In March 1917, Russian workers and peasants, especially women, rose up in revolt with demands for "food, peace, and land." Tsarism was overthrown. Soviets of Workers', Peasants', and Soldiers' Councils emerged as a parallel power structure to the provisional government of the bourgeoisie that came to power. This volume contains Lenin's writings on the nature of the revolution and the duties of the proletariat in it. The ideological struggle that accepting the rule of the bourgeoisie does not ensure the liberation of the workers and peasants is a guiding principle for today's working class movement.
